How to Hard Boil an Egg

So...I am starting this blog to get more people out there cooking. I know what your saying...I can't even boil water. Well I am going to give you daily tips to get you in the kitchen and get you in front of that stove and make you feel confident in what your doing. So today we will start with something simple. Since we've already talked about not being able to boil water lets learn how to hard boil an egg. I mean with a hard boiled egg you could have it for breakfast or even make some egg salad for a sandwich right? So here is how I make my hard boiled eggs. Trust me one of the easiest things to do.

1. Get out a pot
2. Place 1 egg in the pot and fill the pot with water 1 inch above the egg
3. Place the pot on the stove and turn it on to high
4. Place 3 tablespoons of salt(doesn't have to be exact) in to the water with the egg
5. Once your water has come to a boil put on a timer for 10 minutes
6. Once the timer has gone off turn off the stove and drain the water out of the pot and start running cold water over the top of the egg for about 3 minutes
8. Place the egg in a bowl and put it in the fridge to continue cooling for about an hour (unless you want to eat it warm of course)
9. Once the egg has cooled down give it a quick bump on the counter and start peeling off the shell (it should come off really easy from the salt added to the water)
10. Give it a quick rinse to get any small shell pieces off and enjoy.

If you feel like making a little egg salad just chop up that egg add a little mayo, mustard, salt and pepper and you'll be all set. I know this is really basic but some people are very intimated by even some of the smallest kitchen tasks. I want to help those people feel really comfortable. I hope to add videos and pictures eventually to have a step by step guide to some of the tasks that might be a bit frightening but I know you guys can do it and I hope that I can help you feel successful in the kitchen.
